As many gamers know, people tend to put lots of emphasis on the “review score” given to every game. We here at The Analog Shtick feel that the most important pieces of a review are the body paragraphs. The score is only meant to be a reflection of our thoughts on a game. And the score is almost never set in stone within the reviewer’s heart. Anyone who has reviewed games at any frequency knows while the text within the review stays true. The score for a game you reviewed yesterday could look very generous — or stingy, in the present. So I’ve decided the site will stick with a 5-“star” scale. It keeps things simple, and much less specific. Choosing one of forty-or-more different scores with the ever-so-popular 1-10 (with decimals) score seems far too specific when the writing is supposed to be what ultimately praises, or in extreme examples scorns a game.
So, here’s the thing. For clarification’s sake…
That’s right, Ben did a no-no. I foolishly thought “The Mystery Block” was something I came up. And didn’t even bother checking to see if it already existed, I assumed that had never been thought of before by any human being ever… Much less that someone would make a gaming website using that name. I (of course) was wrong. While scrambling to get a Twitter account of the same name (It hadn’t crossed my mind until minutes ago), I discovered it had already been taken. And that it was in fact taken by another gaming site! Of the Spanish variety no less. So, check them out… I guess. We’re going to be looking for names, so if you come up with something good (and not currently in use), we may just use your suggestion! Granting you access eternal bragging rights, pride, and other things that are positive. But for now, just realize that if you decide to visit the site at some point in the future, and it looks different. That all is not lost… Hopefully.
Have a suggestion for a name? Tell us in the comments below! Or, email them to TheMysteryBlock@gmail.com (we’re going to have to change that too… Dangit).
