Looking a reason to get back into Rise of the Triad? Or have you been waiting for a good time to purchase it? In either case, this patch is probably just what you need. Rise of the Triad 1.2 is out now, and makes some much-needed changes to the incredible retro-throwback, but it also implements some enticing additions.
To start, the “Ludicrous Development Kit has been made available to everyone who owns the core game. This allows for the creation of mods, maps, and presumably new game-modes.
The patch also introduces quick-saving/quick-loading, a feature I was aching for when playing through some of the game’s more punishing levels. But be warned, you’ll rightfully receive a score penalty for using the feature.
Last but not least, as far as major-changes are concerned anyway, is that players no longer have to log-into log-into a proprietary account to play the game’s wonderfully hectic multiplayer component, so the entire game is now accessible without having to create an account. Hopefully this will lead to a more populated multiplayer environment.
Some minor bugs have been fixed as well, namely some problematic achievements and some areas in which players could jump out of the map or get stuck.
In addition to all of these great changes, the game is a whopping 50% off for the next four days. So if you feel like playing something retro, give it a look!
