It appears the game will act as a platform for all Disney-related games to come (meaning a “Monster’s University” game will be an add-on for Disney Infinity rather than a standalone game). Disney Infinity will be following a business model similar to that of Spyro’s Skylanders in which physical toys will available for purchase that will act as download vouchers for in-game content
Apparently there will be “Play Set Packs” ($34.99) and various “Figurine” packs that range from $4.99 to $29.99. The Play Set Packs will presumably unlock full story modes while the Figurine Packs will unlock characters and/or items.
The Trailer showcases an open world full of Disney’s characters and locations. According to Gameinfomer the game will include a level editor similar to that of Little Big Planet.

While it’s business is rather devious, if it ends up being a quality game I may just buy into it.
The game is set to release on Xbox 360, Wii, WiiU, 3DS, PSVita, and PS3 (fingers crossed for a PC version) sometime this summer.
We’ll provide additional information as it becomes available.
