While I have proven myself to be a semi-capable Photoshop user. As you will see, I am not the best at non-digital forms of art. While I will occasionally sketch something strange, and maybe even semi-interesting. I definitely wont be drawing tattoo designs for friends any time soon. Here’s a quick look at this year’s
attempts catastrophes. (Excuse the photo quality, I use a DroidX potato as a camera.)
I’ve always been a fan of The Legends of Zelda, so I decided to try carving the Triforce into my recently purchased squash. I figured three triangles wouldn’t be too much of a problem. But as you can see, I’m not as careful as I should be. I constantly found myself wishing there was a way to press control+Z (undo) on my X-ACTO Knife. Although I managed to make it semi-recognizable. it was a pretty sad attempt at such an iconic image.
After seeing how poorly, I probably decided to try something even more simple… Right?
… Wrong. I decided to have a go at carving everyone’s favorite plumber, Mario. As you can see, my attempt was less than successful. I originally planned to do a whole little Mario level with a small Mario sprite. I soon realized that the little sprite was small and unrecognizable, so I decided to “erase” that by making shaving the bits of that tiny Mario, and making big Mario’s hat. As you may be able to tell big Mario didn’t turn out so great either.
While I may not have done so well this year. I can at least say it was a massive improvement over last year’s attempt at a Goomba.
Yep, last year’s ill-fated bit of fruit (fruit?) looks a tad bit more depressing than this year’s.
