It’s the 28th and that can only mean one thing – Guild Wars 2 content update! The Mad King has been threatening to come to our realm, so players are requested to band together and stop him… I guess. As you can see from the pictures above, I was correct in assuming that there was something up with the Lions Arch fountain. It appears to have exploded, revealing a Jell-o geyser that has no doubt been hidden for centuries. Walking into this lime flavored fountain will grant you access to the Mad King’s Realm. More specifically, his lair.
It is recommended that players form groups of 5 to go into the Mad Kings’ Lair, so I shouted “MAD KING GIMME” a few times and was invited to a group. Much like with some segments from the last update, this instance boosts players to level 80, so there’s no need to worry about letting lower leveled players (like me) join your group. Anyways, the Mad King will give you a few orders, like opening haunted doors and fighting the goons that come out. PAINFULLY OBVIOUS SPOILERS: After a while, you are given the objective to defeat the mad king.
It’s a pretty standard fight, he jumps around a bit, and sends some minions your way; no big deal really. Just choose your attacks carefully with some friends and you should have him down within 20 minutes or so.
Overall, this bit of content is only about 30 minutes long. Making it the shortest content patch during this “Shadows of the Mad King” stream of updates. Then again, the last update added so much that this is forgivable. It will be interesting to see what the the fourth and final update will bring.
That’s just about it for this update! Again, I apologize if I left anything out. Now excuse me while I spend another few hours attempting to get to the top of the Clock Tower.
