After not being able to access the content on it’s day of release (October 22nd) and immediately forgetting its existence. Here is some news on the first of four spooky content updates coming to Guild Wars 2 this month.
The first notable update since it’s release, Shadow of the Mad King: Act 1 add quite a bit to the Fantastical world of Tyria. It adds a whole new stream of events, a new hidden jump puzzle/dungeon. And best of all, haunted doors. Haunted doors spawn periodically in several different locations and either give players a battle, or Halloween-themed loot. From my experience the loot is all edibles, for example, the spookiest of all candies; Candy Corn. The update also dropped pumpkins all around the world for players to carve, for achievements of course.
Speaking of achievements, two in particular are sort of absurd. To receive these two achievements, players will be required to open upwards of 200 of these haunted doors. That will take commitment, as searching for these doors and waiting for them to spawn is less than compelling.
Unfortunately I was unable to get the new event line working and am too low of a level to check out the new jump puzzle (it’s in a level 70-80 area), so I can really only comment on opening Haunted doors and carving pumpkins. Which honestly is all less than exciting. I’ll update as/if I am able to check out the rest of the content.
Expect updates for the next few patches in the coming week!
